Robert William “Tony” Slayden, age 83, passed away Thursday, February 19th, surrounded by family at the home of his daughter in Athens, AL.

Tony was born November 17, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Billy and Edna Slayden. He lived most of his life in Fulton, KY.

Mr. Slayden retired from Illinois Central Railroad and was a member of South Fulton Baptist Church. Tony was also a 61-year member of the Roberts Lodge #172. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Aletha Tegethoff Slayden and his parents Billy and Edna Slayden.

Tony is survived by his daughters, Kim Slayden (John) Jackson of Fulton, KY, and Laura Slayden (Tommy) Hogue of Athens, AL; three grandchildren, Taylor Jackson (Will) Greer of Hickman, KY and Mackenzie Hogue and Samuel Hogue of Athens, AL; and one great grandchild, Emmitt Greer of Hickman, KY.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 3PM, Saturday, March 14, 2026, in the Obion County Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation held at the funeral home and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at the hour of service.
