Susan DeBusschere Anderson, born in Detroit, Michigan, of Water Valley, Kentucky, at the age of 74, left her earthly home on August 3, 2026. She is survived by the love of her life the man who finally gave her a smile, her husband, James of 56 years three daughters Kathryn (Brian Barnum) of Allen Park, Michigan; Laura (Paul Knight) of Dearborn Heights, Michigan Hillary (Andrew Parsons) of Agnes, Kentucky. Eleven grandchildren: Brendon, Kerigan, Maclane, Nathan, Autumn, Trenton, Logan, Spencer, Amos, Elias, and Benjamin and two great-grandchildren.
She was a sixth child of 12 children; she leaves behind Bobby, June, Caroline, Johnny, and Victoria. She is also survived by Shari McDonald, Susan Schultz, John Anderson, and Patricia Hodges, her sister(s)and brother-in-law, a best friend Venus Luter. When I asked what she wanted to be when she grew up a “mother” was always her answer and what a Mamacita, Momma, and Marmie she was the epitome of everything a mom should be.
Everyone believes that their mother is the best; however, we know that ours was. She taught us how to pray, to love in spite of, not because of, how to cook, and above all, she forged such a sisterhood between us and an unbreakable and unshakable bond of love and loyalty.
Jim claims that Sue saved him; she has the same story: they loved hard in this ever-changing world, led by example to never quit because of challenges or adversity. They were matching only God could’ve ordained. Love remains the same.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Eleanor Hood, and Margaret DeBusschere. Siblings: Mary, Jack, Chris, Kathryn, and Norita. A very special niece, Sarah, and nephew, Austin.
Susan was a member of Saint Edward’s Catholic Church. She loved her church family.
Susan loved to watch all sports, especially Tigers baseball and Detroit Lions football. She was an avid reader, was of the Catholic faith, enjoyed crocheting, being with her family, a good cup of coffee, and Jeopardy.
