Marcy Dement

Mrs. Marcella "Marcy" Jane Dement, age 92, of Haines City, Florida, and formerly of South Fulton, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026, in Florida.

Marcy was born on February 24, 1934, in Trenton, Tennessee, to the late Walter Tennyson Clark and Myrtle Paschall Clark.

A devoted woman of faith, Marcy was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Winter Haven, Florida, and a former member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Fulton, Kentucky, where for many years, she faithfully taught young people in VBS, Sunday School, and GA"s. She also served as Secretary, alongside her good friend, Kay Martin, Director of the Fulton Chamber of Commerce and coordinated the annual Banana Festival for ten years, contributing greatly to her community through her leadership and dedication.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Edward "Willie" Dement, whom she married on September 17, 1973, in Corinth, Mississippi; her sons, Stephen (Sherry) Smyth of Woodstock, Georgia, Terry (Rocky) Smyth of Gleason, Tennessee, and Gene Smyth of Winter Haven, Florida; her grandchildren, Scott (Sarah) Smyth of Fayette, Alabama, Tori (Matt) Dunning of Gleason, Tennessee, Cristyn (Rob) Smyth of Hiawassee, Georgia, Kyle (Katie) Smyth of Hiawassee, Georgia, and Tyler (Lilly) Smyth of Canton, Georgia; and her great-grandchildren, Zoe Smyth of Fayette, Alabama, Jack Dunning of Gleason, Tennessee, Elsie Smyth of Fayette, Alabama, and Henley Wedgwood of Hiawassee, Georgia, and Evelyn Smyth of Hiawassee, Georgia and Juniper Smyth of Canton, Georgia, as well as many neices and nephews.

She is also survived by her siblings, Paul Tennyson Clark of Haines City, Florida, and Ida Sue Harbin of Dyersburg, Tennessee. She is preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ruth Connelly of Elmhurst, Illinois, and brother, Eddie Walter Clark of Reno, Arkansas.

Marcy will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her service to her church and community, and her love and devotion to her family.

Memorial services for Mrs. Dement will be held at 2PM Friday, June 19, 2026 at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at the church from 1PM Friday until the hour of service.
