Mr. Kenneth Neal Pickering, 87, of South Fulton, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, July 31, 2026.
Born on July 26, 1939, in Union City, Tennessee, Kenneth was the son of the late Edison Bernnard Pickering and Hattie Neal Lankford Pickering.
Kenneth was a faithful member of The People Place Assembly of God and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. Throughout his working years, he was employed by the former Bennett Electric, Huddleston's Hardware, and Walmart, where he dedicated 18 years of service. He also became well known throughout the community for baking and selling homemade bread, earning the affectionate nickname, "The Bread Man."
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Kenneth cherished the time he spent with his family. He especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and found great joy in gardening and sharing his homemade bread with others.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Ernestine Hill Pickering, whom he married on June 19, 1962; one daughter, Sheila Jean (Jerry) Moore of South Fulton, Tennessee; two grandchildren, April Gail (Aaron) Fulcher of South Fulton, Tennessee, and Nina Farrah (Jeremy) Poole of Smithville, Tennessee; five great-grandchildren, Owain Ray Ballance of South Fulton, Tennessee, Jennessa Dorothy Ballance of Union City, Tennessee, Kenneth Brian Ballance of South Fulton, Tennessee, Derrick Alan Poole of Smithville, Tennessee, and Eric Landon Poole of Madison, Tennessee; four brothers, Glen Pickering of Union City, Tennessee, Gary Pickering of South Fulton, Tennessee, Orville Pickering of South Fulton, Tennessee and Michael Pickering of Union City, Tennessee; and one sister, Linda Boyd of Sedalia, Kentucky.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by two brothers, Bennie Pickering and Donald Pickering.
Funeral services for Mr. Kenneth Neal Pickering will be held at 2PM Monday, August 3, 2026 in our funeral chapel with burial to follow in the Obion County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11AM Monday until the hour of service.
