Janice Connell

Mrs. Janice Connell, age 78, of Fulton, KY, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at the Martin Volunteer General Hospital ER in Martin, TN. Mrs. Connell was born on November 28, 1946, in Hickman, KY, to the late Forest E. Rothman and Mary Perllie Goff Rothman. Mrs. Connell married her husband of sixty years, Mr. Larry Connell, on December 11, 1964. She was of the Baptist faith and lived all of her life in this area. 

Mrs. Connell was a former employee of the Union City Walmart, and for forty years, she, along with her husband, co-owned the Dixieland Delight Ice Cream Truck that provided ice cream treats to kids and adults all over West Kentucky and West Tennessee. They could be heard from blocks away during the hot summertime, as they played The Ice Cream Truck Song that put a smile on many faces, including theirs.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Connell is survived by one daughter, Susan Connell of Union City, TN, ten grandchildren, Jessica Blaylock, Jon Dean, Joseph Dean, Maggie Johnson, Allison Dickson, Hollie Dickson, Hunter Choate, Ethan Hazelwood, Sydney Hazelwood, Emma Hazelwood, sixteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition, she has four sisters, Lula Belle Stroud of Martin, TN, Rosie Baker of Union City, TN, Susie Chappell of Crossville, TN, and Sherry Jean Etheridge of South Fulton, TN, and one brother, Billy Etheridge of South Fulton, TN.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Connell is preceded in death by two daughters, Donna Connell Dean and Cathy Hazelwood, two brothers, Carl Rothman, and Donald Gene Rothman, and two sisters, Flora King and Debbie Ann Williamson.

Funeral services for Mrs. Janice Connell will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 20, 2025, in our funeral chapel. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery with Bro. John Dacus officiating. Visitation for Mrs. Connell will be held from 12:00 PM on Sunday until the hour of service
