Ms. Gussie Mae Clifton, 104, of Fulton, Kentucky, gently answered the Master’s call on Monday, February 16, 2026, at her home surrounded by the comfort of familiar walls and cherished memories.

Born on November 28, 1921, in Tusculum, Georgia, to the late William Duren and Katie McLoud Duren, Mother Clifton-as she was lovingly known-was a woman of steadfast faith, grace, and quiet strength. From humble beginnings in Tusculum to a life richly lived in Fulton, she carried herself with dignity and purpose for more than a century.

A devoted and faithful member of the United Church of the Living God in Fulton, Pastor Clifton served many years as a shepherd to God’s people. She preached, prayed, and poured into countless lives, leaving a lasting spiritual legacy rooted in love, wisdom, and unwavering trust in the Lord. Her voice, her prayers, and her counsel will long echo in the hearts of those she guided.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her devoted daughter, Kathy Lee and son-in-love Kent of Fulton, Kentucky; two beloved grandsons, Clifton Banks of Lexington, Kentucky, and Jay Banks of Fulton, Kentucky; and two treasured great-grandchildren, including Kristian Nolcox and Javeah Banks both of Louisville, Kentucky, along with a host of extended family, church family, and friends who were blessed by her long and beautiful life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bishop O.K. Clifton; five brothers; and four sisters.

Mother Clifton’s life was a testament to faith, perseverance, and enduring love. Her legacy will continue to shine brightly through the generations she nurtured and the lives she touched.

Private family services will be held.
