Barbara Reed

Ms. Barbara Jo Reed, age 78, of Paragould, AR, and formerly of Water Valley, KY, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2025, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, AR. Ms. Reed was born on September 4, 1946, in Howell County, MO, to the late Morgan Erby Williams and Lavinia Rockwell Williams. Ms. Reed was one of seven children. She lived most of her adult life in Kentucky, Missouri, and Arkansas. Ms. Barbara was a member of the New Bethel Assembly of God Church in Paragould, AR. 

Mrs. Reed was a registered nurse (RN), a mother, and a friend to many. During her nursing career, she cared for and attended to thousands of patients over twenty-eight years, working in Missouri, Arkansas, and Tennessee, until retiring from Baptist Hospital in Union City, TN. She loved her family, flowers, horses, her church, and most importantly, Jesus.

She is survived by two sons; Larry (Melinda) Reed of Water Valley, KY, John (Amy) Reed of Troy, TN, two daughters; Glenda McLaughlin and Kim Reed both of Paragould, AR, twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; and one sister, Shirley Bay of Teresita, MO, additionally she is survived by a special friend and daughter by choice for many years, Brinda (Fred) LaGrand of Paragould, who will also miss her dearly, along with the rest of her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one grandson, Stanley Dale McLaughlin, three brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral services for Ms. Barbara Jo Reed will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton, Bro. Fred LeGrand will officiate, and burial will follow in the Water Valley Cemetery. Visitation for Ms. Reed will be held on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the hour of the service.
