Barbara Atwill

Ms. Barbara Bennette Atwill, age 64, of the Cayce Community passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, in Mayfield, Kentucky.

She was born on June 19, 1961, in Fulton, Kentucky, to the late Billy Atwill and Bennette McClure Atwill of the Cayce Community.

Barbara was a devoted member of Cayce Methodist Church. She dedicated 40 years of her career to journalism, working as an editor for the former Hickman Courier and later for The Current Newspaper. She was also an active member of the Hickman Rotary Club and the Hickman Chamber of Commerce. Barbara spent her entire life in the local community she loved.

She is survived by her two daughters, Caitlin (Jay Cole) Bracey of Martin, Tennessee, and Chelsea (Nathan) Anderson of Medina, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Alyvia Bracey and Everlee Cole, both of Martin, Tennessee, and Keagan Anderson and Walker Anderson, both of Medina, Tennessee; and three sisters, Bridget Atwill of Cayce, Kentucky, Belinda Atwill of the Springhill Community, and Bonita Dillon of the Springhill Community.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Alexis Bracey.

Pallbearers will be Tony Atwill, Craig Atwill, Brian McClure, Tommy Speight, Greg Alexander and Alan Goodwin. Honorary pallbearers will be Fulton County Class of 1979. 

Funeral services for Ms. Atwill will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Cayce Methodist Church, with burial to follow in Cayce Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, and from 9AM Thursday until the hour of service.
