Anne L. Peterson

Mrs. Anne Latta Peterson, age 92, formerly of Fulton, KY, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2025, in Louisville, KY.

Anne Latta Peterson was born on May 27, 1933, to Gilson Davis Latta and Clemmie Edwards Latta in Graves County, KY, and lived her early childhood in Water Valley, KY. Her mother passed away when Anne was a young girl. Along with her father, her aunt and uncle, Myrtle and Roy Latta, were instrumental in her upbringing. Her father remarried and Mary Hill Latta came into their lives. Anne and Mary had a wonderful mother-daughter relationship. Anne graduated from Fulton City High School in 1950. She finished her education at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.

After graduating from UK, Anne found the love of her life, Robert (Bob) T. Peterson Jr. They married on June 20, 1959, and resided in Memphis where Bob was completing his residency at the University of Tennessee Medical School.

In 1961, they moved to Fulton where they remained throughout their marriage, with Bob practicing medicine until his retirement and Anne running the household. Not long after Bob passed away in 2016, Anne moved to Louisville, Kentucky, to be closer to her family.

Anne was preceded in death by her mother, father, and stepmother — Clemmie, Gilson, and Mary Latta — and her beloved husband, Dr. Robert Taylor Peterson Jr. She is survived by her three children: Dave Peterson of Jackson, MS; Marianne Nitzken (Marty) of Louisville, KY; and Margaret Lee (Miles) of Louisville, KY. She leaves behind eight grandchildren: Betsy Otis (Patrick), Bobby Peterson (Mimi), Anne Wilson Peterson, Mollie Brakefield (Wilson), Anna Senninger (Marcus), Martin Nitzken Jr., Miles Lee, and Gilson Lee; and six great-grandchildren: Jack and Will Otis, Anne Harper, Olivia, Robert Taylor “Beau” Peterson V, and Shirley Frances Brakefield.

Anne was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a dear friend to many. She was known for her porch parties, homemade rolls, and fiercely competitive spirit in games and cards. A woman of deep faith, the Methodist church was a lifelong anchor for her. She lived her life with generosity, humor, and true southern grace.

Visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Fulton from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, followed by the funeral. Burial will follow in the Water Valley Cemetery.
